Math
- This week we reviewed modules 1-3 and took a unit test for Unit 2. We will still have one more module to complete next week , but that work is not being assessed at this point.
- Our November Number Corner will focus on identifying and classifying triangles, coordinate grids and ordered pairs and working with metric conversions!! (Short month, but very busy.)
- Our December Number Corner will be focused on reviewing and adding to our knowledge and understanding of quadrilaterals. In addition, we will continue to collect, graph, organize and analyze data, but we will have another set of data. We will be using student height and feet length!
- Looking for work for your 5th grader to do at home? Your classroom teacher sent an email with an attachment. This is optional as Randall has a no homework policy. Thanks!
Literacy this week
- This week we worked on our first literary essay! Ask your child to show you what they have done.
- For ALL Block, we continue to work with vocabulary words, writing responses to our reading and fluency work.
Science
We will continue with our second unit in science the week of November 18th. Our next unit will be Ecosystem Restoration.
- Our second unit will be on Ecosystem Restoration as we answer the question: How do organisms in an ecosystem get the matter and energy they need to grow and thrive?
- Our first chapter will focus on : Why aren't the jaguars and slots growing and thriving?
Social Studies
- We are using a text called Mountain Wolf Woman-A Ho-Chunk Girlhood by Diane Holliday.
- We will be reading, engaging in discussion, working with vocabulary and various activities to try and gain a deeper understanding of the Ho-Chunk nation.
- We will be in this unit for 3 weeks.
